LAGOS — Zedvance Finance Limited has appointed renowned legal scholar and banking expert, Pius ‘Deji Olanrewaju, as Chairman of its Board of Directors in a move aimed at strengthening the company’s corporate governance and driving its next phase of growth.

The appointment, which takes effect from July 1, is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), according to a statement issued by the company.

Zedvance said the appointment marks a significant milestone in its corporate evolution, as it continues to reinforce its governance framework and position itself for accelerated expansion, innovation and long-term value creation.

The company described Olanrewaju as a seasoned boardroom leader with extensive experience in governance, strategy and organisational transformation, saying his wealth of expertise would further strengthen its leadership structure.

According to the statement, the enhanced board composition will provide stronger oversight and strategic direction as the financial services firm pursues ambitious growth plans while deepening innovation across its operations.

Reacting to his appointment, Olanrewaju said he was honoured to assume the leadership of the Board at a time the company was expanding its impact within Nigeria’s financial services sector.

“I am honoured to assume the role of Chairman of the Board of Zedvance Finance. The company has established a strong reputation as a trusted financial partner, leveraging innovation and technology to create meaningful impact. I look forward to working with the board and management to support the company’s strategic aspirations and deliver sustainable value for our stakeholders,” he said.

Olanrewaju is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s foremost authorities on banking and commercial law, with more than four decades of experience spanning banking, finance, academia and institutional governance.

He holds degrees in law and the social sciences, including a doctorate, and is a Fellow of several professional bodies, among them the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), the Institute of Capital Market Registrars, the Institute of Management and Administrative Technology, and the Enterprise Risk Management Professionals.

He recently completed his tenure as President and Chairman of Council of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria after more than 35 years of service to the institute, during which he also chaired several strategic committees.

A Professor of Banking Law at Babcock University, Olanrewaju previously served as Provost and Dean of the institution’s School of Law and Security Studies. He has authored and co-authored several academic publications and serves on the boards of various organisations, including Babcock University Microfinance Bank.
