Zamfara CP Partners Journalists …Promises Violence Free Elections

The police in Zamfara are forging new relationships with journalists towards effective crime management and control in the state.

The state police spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu told NewsmakersNG in a statement that “the Commissioner of Police Zamfara State Command CP Celestine Okoye fsp sp, fsi, psc has promised to partner with members of the press to ensure effective crime management and control in the state. The CP made the promise while briefing the press on his assumption of duty as the commissioner of police in the state. He appeals to them to always ensure balanced reportage of happenings by cross-checking facts from the command to avoid misperception.

“He assures members of the public that police in the state under his watch will continue to discharge its constitutional responsibilities in line with the professional ethics of the Job. He appeals for continued collaboration and synergy from members of the public by giving the police timely and credible information to rid the state of all vicious crimes.”

On the forthcoming elections, the CP assured the people of Zamfara that adequate security has been put in place to guarantee safety and security of the electorates, INEC election materials and election observers deployed to the state.

He, however, urged politicians and their supporters to obey the electoral laws, to ensure peaceful conduct of the entire exercise. He also warned against any act of violence/ use of offensive weapons during any campaign/rally by any political party, vandalism of party’s billboard/posters, hate speechless and other violence conduct.

He added that the police would continue to remain apolitical and provide adequate security coverage in all the 14 LGAs of the state, so that the state could witness the most peaceful election in its history.
