A Zambian man from Mapafula Village in Monze District named Elia Hatontola has allegedly murdered his two year old son identified as Enock by stabbing him with a knife in the abdomen.
Mwebantu reports that the suspect also attempted to commit suicide by taking an unknown substance.
Police Spokesperson, Esther Katongo, said the incident occurred on Thursday around 11pm.
The motive behind the killing is not yet known.
Katongo said the body has been deposited in Monze Mission Hospital mortuary.
The suspect was also apprehended and detained on the suspicion of murder.
