A year one Chemical Engineering student of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Rivers State, has been found dead in her locked room.
The deceased, identified as Hikmat Gbadamosi, is believed to have committed suicide by taking two bottles of a yet-to-be-identified poisonous substance.
Her close friends reportedly said the deceased, said to be the assistant course representative of her class, had been suffering bouts of depression before she was found dead yesterday.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the deceased had not been seen since Saturday until yesterday when one of her close friends mobilised some students to force open the door to her room.
Police and the institution’s authorities are yet to speak on the incident.
