Quick intervention by policemen today saved the life of the Chairman, Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Omiyale Kayode, who was almost lynched by armed hoodlums as he was returning from a campaign rally at Abule Oja area with some APC party stalwarts.
Kayode and the party stalwarts, including a member of the House of Representatives and a member of the Osun State House of Assembly, narrowly escaped death as they were pursued by the hoodlums into the council secretariat opposite the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) Panti, Yaba.
The police engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle, cordoned off the area, and kept the politicians safely inside the council secretariat all day.
A reinforcement was later sent by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP) Hakeem Odumosu.
Kayode is campaigning to emerge as Chairman for a second term in the council election on Saturday.
