Woman Pours Boiling Water on Sleeping Husband in Bayelsa

Matilda Omonaiye/

A woman, identified as Maureen, reportedly poured a pot of boiling water on her husband, Oyinkro Miebode, while he was sleeping at their home in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the incident happened in the early hours of June 3, following a disagreement between the couple the previous night during which the man slapped his wife twice.

The woman had earlier accused the husband of monitoring her movements after he arrived one hour early at their rendezvous.

All efforts by the man to explain to her that he had closed from work earlier than usual and also got a lift from his boss fell on deaf hears.

Rather, the woman insisted that he deliberately arrived one hour earlier than their agreed time because he suspected her of infidelity.

Narrating his experience, the man stated: “I was shocked that she was angry with me for coming early and asked for her reason for being angry. That was when she accused me of monitoring her. She continued insulting me till we got home.

“I thought that we could settle the matter at home but it was hell. So out of anger, I gave her two warning slaps and instructed her to go to the bedroom and sleep.

“At that point, a friend called me to come to his place for a private birthday party, from where I didn’t return till about 1am. I then decided to sleep on a sofa in the living room. I was still asleep when she bathed me with hot water.”

The woman reportedly fled their home immediately after committing the act.
