The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has inaugurated a new radio station, Majority FM 89.5, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as part of efforts to galvanise support for President Bola Tinubu’s prospective re-election campaign in 2027.
The station is housed within the headquarters of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors movement, a political group aligned with the President’s campaign objectives.
The commissioning event on Saturday also marked the unveiling of a situation room, office facilities and operational vehicles for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, which Wike said will serve as strategic platforms for mobilising grassroots support throughout the South-South region.
In remarks at the ceremony in Port Harcourt, Wike declared that Rivers State is firmly committed to delivering votes for President Tinubu, saying the infrastructure and organisational network being put in place demonstrate readiness for the 2027 general election.
He emphasised that local support structures, including senators, assembly members and party officials from both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC), are capable of driving mobilisation independently of a sitting governor’s involvement.
Wike praised Ambassador Desmond Akawor, Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, for extensive grassroots engagement across all 23 local government areas of Rivers State.
According to the minister, the radio station will help amplify political messaging and connect with communities across the state as part of broader campaign coordination.
Independent details on the station’s programming or regulatory status with Nigeria’s broadcast authorities have not yet been released.
