Nigeria’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, has finally broken her silence on the rumours of her impending marriage to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Farouq in a tweet today via her official handle, @Sadiya_farouq, disowned another Twitter handle in her name, which was being used to deny the rumours of her planned wedding to the President.

The Twitter handle of the fake account is @Sadiya_farouq_ which is almost same as the Minister’s @Sadiya_farouq.

Some of the tweets by the fake handle.

The fake handle, however, appeared to have been blocked blocked by Twitter after its activities were reported by several users.

Repeated search for the handle on Twitter this evening yielded no results.

Farouq’s tweet read: “It has come to my attention that a fake Twitter account @Sadiya_farouq_ has been created in my name. I wish to inform my followers and well meaning Nigerians to disregard the handle and any information posted on it.

“My official Twitter handle remains @Sadiya_farouq. Thank you.”
