A 14-year-old girl has been held by the police in Delta State for allegedly stabbing her father to death.
Reports say the incident happened on Thursday night in the Cable Point area of Asaba, the state capital when the man tried to discipline his daughter for an offence she committed before he went to sleep.
It was gathered that the girl, who was unhappy with the development, waited until he was asleep before stabbing him to death with a knife.
The state police spokesman, Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the incident while expressing regret over the crime rate in the state, especially among youths.
He said, “I don’t have information if the deceased is the girl’s father. But all we know for now is that he was related to her. Imagine a small girl stabbing her relative to death.
“The other day, it was killing of a Delta State University student. Where are we heading to?’’
He also appealed to parents to continue monitoring their children, advising ladies to be wary of the men they date.
