The Nigeria Police and Benue State government clashed on a television programme today, after the police spokesman, Mr Jimoh Moshood, called Governor Samuel Ortom a drowning man.
Programme anchor, Mrs Maupe Ogun-Yusuf, had to call for a break in transmission as the Chief Press Secretary to Ortom, Mr Terver Akase, engaged Moshood in a shouting match insisting that he must withdraw the statement and apologize.
Moshood, who was later pacified to withdraw the statement, said that he reacted that way because the governor had called for the resignation of the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris.
