Six Commissioners of Police (CP) were redeployed today by the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, amid rising cases of violent crimes in their areas.

According to a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Frank Mba, Adamu redeployed the CPs as part of efforts aimed at rejigging the fight against banditry, kidnapping and other sundry crimes across the nation, particularly in Kaduna and other contiguous states.

Adamu also charged CPs nationwide to re-dominate and re-claim public space from criminals.

The redeployed officers included the CP Kaduna Command, Ahmed Abdulrahaman who was posted to the Force Intelligence Bureau, Force Headquarters, in Abuja. He has been replaced by CP Aji Ali Janga, who was in charge of Bauchi State command.

Other Commissioners of Police affected are: CP Habu Sani Ahmadu, former CP Intelligence, who is now posted to Bauchi Command; CP Omololu Shamsudeen Bishi is redeployed from Benue State Police Command to the Central Criminal Registry (CCR), Alagbon, in Lagos, while CP Mukadas Mohammed Garba moves from the Office of the National Security Adviser to Benue State Command as the new CP in charge of the state; the erstwhile CP in charge of CCR Alagbon, Lagos has now been moved to Force Headquarters, Abuja as the CP in charge of Armament.

Meanwhile, the IGP has charged the newly posted or redeployed CPs and other strategic commanders nationwide to take urgent steps towards initiating and implementing concrete crime prevention strategies aimed at re-dominating and reclaiming the public space under their watch from the activities of monstrous criminal elements in the society.

The postings take immediate effect.
