A video of the fire incident involving an aircraft owned by Overland Airline at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos today, captured voices of eyewitnesses blaming firefighters for the extensive damage it caused.
The video showed the aircraft burning as firefighters who came with only one fire truck battled ineffectually to contain it.
The eyewitnesses who spoke in Yoruba could be heard complaining that the firefighters were not tackling the fire effectively. One of them could be heard at a point lamenting that the fire truck no longer had water.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the incident happened at one of the private hangars in the airport.
The fire burned the aircraft beyond repairs before it was eventually contained by the firefighters.
There was no report of casualties.
The cause of the fire is not yet known as neither the airline nor the Accident Investigation Bureau has issued a statement on the incident.
