Some passengers of an interstate commercial bus have recounted their ordeals in the hands of suspected bandits on the Lagos-Benin Expressway earlier today.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the incident happened around Ore, in Ondo State.
An online video of the incident shows the passengers of a Toyota bus, bearing the inscription of Iyare Motors, narrating their experiences shortly after the bandits had escaped into the bush with their loot.
Two of the passengers, a man and a woman, said they were visiting Nigeria from abroad and claimed that the bandits went away with their foreign travelling passports in addition to money and other valuables.
Some armed men, who appeared to be vigilantes, could be seen in the video asking the victims for the direction the bandits went so that they could go after them.
A long line vehicles, which had apparently been held up while the operation lasted, could also be seen driving past the scene of the robbery.
There was no report of any death or serious injury.
The man who recorded the video however claimed that some policemen who were alerted to the incident could not confront the bandits, rather, abandoned the victims to their fate.
