A viral video has shown two police officers brutalising a harmless passerby on a Lagos street.

The incident which took place at Ologun Agbaje street, on Victoria Island, yesterday morning, was captured on video by a Twitter user.

The victim reportedly drew the ire of the police officers after making a remark they considered offensive when he saw them harassing a commercial motorcyclist, popularly called okada.

The video shows two armed policemen accosting the victim and questioning him in a menacing manner, after which one of the them hit the hapless man in the face before he was let off.

One of the background voices in the video suggests that the policemen had already brutalised the victim before the video started recording.

In another video, the victim, who identified himself as Issac Samson, explained the genesis of his ordeal to eyewitnesses.

According to him, he was on his way to buy something when he saw a group of policemen harassing an innocent okada and he expressed his conternation at their action.
