The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede, has expressed gratitude to God for allowing him to be infected with COVID-19.

In a video shared by the NIS on its official Twitter handle, @nigimmigration, Babandede said by allowing him to contract coronavirus, God gave him the opportunity to humble himself and to also know how much he is loved by people.

“Allah knows best. I am thanking Allah for giving me the opportunity to be sick because it gives me the opportunity to humble myself and to also know that I am beloved by such a large number of people,” Babandede said.

He also appealed to Nigerians to follow the guidelines on how to stop further spread of the disease and also ensure they wash their hands frequently and maintain the required social distance.

“On this first of April, I am sending this video to you to let you know I am doing well. I am recovering gradually. Please wash your hands, maintain social distance. This disease is real. But above all, continue to pray that Nigeria is saved from any disaster. The numbers are still small but we must pray that the numbers don’t grow,” he further stated in the less than two minutes video.
