A video that went viral on X (formerly Twitter) today shows a heated confrontation at a meeting of the Lagos State Football Association, during which the Chairman, Fouad Oki, purportedly slapped his vice, Olawale Gafar.
The incident occurred following Oki’s suspension for alleged gross misconduct.
In the video, Gafar, visibly upset, can be heard expressing his frustration over the alleged assault, saying, “It’s over, it’s over, sir. We can’t take this anymore. You (Oki) slapped me. Chairman, you slapped me and punched me in my throat. I’ll take anything for football.
“I’m taking this stand for football. This is our destiny; this is our lives. The oppression is over, and the board is suspending you unanimously.”
The decision to suspend Fouad Oki was reached by a 5-4 majority vote during a meeting held at the Secretariat in Surulere yesterday.
The board cited allegations of misconduct and high-handedness as the reasons for his suspension.
