A mob reportedly lynched and burnt three suspected male kidnappers to death in Abuja this morning.
The mob also set ablaze the vehicle in which the suspects were caught.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the incident happened at Dutse Alhaji, along the Kubwa expressway.
The suspects were reportedly prevented from escaping with their unidentified victim by the traffic jam in the area.
Eyewitnesses said some policemen who tried to rescue the suspects from the mob were threatened with violence and chased away from the scene.
Some others however claimed the suspects were not kidnappers but robbers who attempted to rob a lady before they were apprehended.
Posing as passengers in their operational vehicle, the suspects reportedly dispossessed their victim of her belongings after which they pushed her out of the car.
An eyewitness disclosed: “The one chance robbers, after taking their victim’s money, phone and other belongings, pushed her out of their vehicle, but some Okada riders saw them and gave them a hot chase.
“They caught up with the robbers under the Dutse Alhaji bridge. They burnt two of them inside their vehicle while the third one who attempted to escape into Dutse Alhaji market was also caught and stoned to death. His body was then set ablaze with old tyres and fuel.”
The remains of the robbers were said to have been evacuated by the police.
