Video: Melaye Suffers Asthma Attack in Police Custody

Pat Stevens/

A video shared by Channels TV captured the moment Senator Dino Melaye surrendered to the police in Abuja today after eight days in hiding.

The Senator who looked weak and barely able to walk was supported by two men as he entered the car that took him to the police station.

Two men also carried him from the car into one of the offices at the police station and laid him on the floor.

The high point of the video was the moment Melaye suffered asthma attack at the police station and had to be quickly stabilised with an inhaler by one of his aides.

Policemen had laid a siege to Melaye’s residence in the last eight days in a bid to execute an arrest warrant on him over alleged attempted culpable homicide.

Police authorities had alleged that a member of the Senator’s entourage shot and injured a policemen in July 2018 in Kogi State.
