The crisis between the children of the late Oniru of Iruland, Oba Idowu Abiodun and his successor, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, took a violent turn, yesterday after palace guards beat up one of the late monarch’s sons, identified as Tijani.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the violence was over the control of some choice properties in Oniru, Eti Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The two parties, it was learnt, could not agree over which of the properties, worth billions of naira, are privately owned by the late Oniru’s family and which ones belong to the royal family and should be under the control of the new monarch.

Trouble allegedly started yesterday morning when some thugs believed to be loyal to Tijani, attacked and beat up palace officials who were posting notices on the disputed properties.

It was learnt that youths loyal to the new Oniru also trailed Tijani to the entrance of the Millennium Estate later in the day and assaulted him in retaliation for the earlier attack on their colleagues.

In a short video clip that was uploaded on social media, the palace guards, clad in black shirts, are seen assaulting him as he attempts to escape into the estate.

Armed policemen are also seen trying to pacify the attackers.
