A video attached to this story surfaced online showing the final moments of Senator Buruji Kashamu begging his business and political rival, Sir Kesington Adebutu aka Baba Ijebu for forgiveness.

Adebutu and the late Kashamu had engaged in a long-drawn gambling business battle.

Adebutu owns Premier Lotto, and Western Lotto belonged to Kashamu.

The battle began over the rights to a Ghana-based game leading to N500billion suit. Kashamu sent the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after Adebutu. The matter was also brought before the House of Representatives and the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, for settlement.

In the petition to EFCC, Kashamu had accused Adebutu of tax fraud and economic sabotage.

Kashamu later fell sick after visiting Abuja to sign terms of the settlement with the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC). He reportedly tested negative twice to COVID-19, a disease that reportedly killed him on August 8, 2020, after spending a week at the First Cardiology Hospital in Lagos.

NewsmakersNG learnt that he made a phone call to Adebutu on his sick bed, which the businessman documented in a video and release to the public.

After the sick politician prostrated and begged during the telephone conversation, Adebutu attached a condition to his forgiveness that Kashamu must withdraw all court cases he filed against him.

The conversation was done in their native Yoruba language.
