Heavy gunfire and sporadic shooting disrupted voting in Abonnema in Akuku-Torlu Local Government Area of Rivers State today.
Eyewitness said that the shooting was carried out by thugs and ex-militants allegedly working for some aggrieved politicians.

There uncomfirmed reports of high number of casualty during the shooting.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the shooting which occurred at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Bonny was between some hoodlums and security agents.
Sporadic shooting was also reported in Bonny, Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.
INEC had consequently suspended voting in the area.
