Malik Yahya/

An online video has shown Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, leading his security details to dislodge suspected kidnappers on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway on Wednesday.

The governor’s entourage reportedly encountered the kidnappers, who had laid siege to the expressway around Akilibu village.

El-Rufai could be seen in the video joining his security details to chase after the fleeing bandits, as scores of stranded motorists look on.

The governor’s security aides could also be seen firing repeated shots in the direction of the kidnappers, but it was not clear if any of them was hit.

The governor’s action was greeted with loud cheers by motorists, who had been held hostage by the kidnappers.
