A filling station allegedly owned by Governor Ben Ayade has been set ablaze in Calabar by hoodlums who had been on rampage in the Cross River State capital since yesterday night.
Videos shared on social media show the filling station going up in flames.
Similarly, the homes of Senators Victor Ndoma-Egba and Gershom Bassey were looted by hoodlums, who also set fire to Ndoma-Egba’s house.
Other private properties were also reportedly looted by the rampaging hoodlums.
In an interview with journalists yesterday, shortly after the looting started, the governor claimed those perpetrating the violence were thugs who came from outside the state.
