The death of 25-year-old American lady, Shanquella Robinson, which was original put down to alcohol poisoning, has been reclassified as homicide.
This followed the emergence of a video showing Robinson, who was on a trip to Mexico, being beaten up by another lady, moments before she was declared dead on October 29.
Mexican officials are officially probing her death as a homicide after an autopsy revealed her neck was broken and spine severed
The State Attorney General’s Office for Baja Sur told The Daily Beast that it is being investigated as a “femicide” — the intentional homicide of a woman
If the investigation does not find she was killed because of her gender, it will be reclassified as a regular homicide
Robinson, whose name is currently one of the top trends on the Internet was seen being beaten while naked in the video from the trip she took with friends.
A man, who appears to be filming the sickening assault, can be heard in the video taunting Robinson as he asks, “Can you at least fight back?”
She attempts to get away from her attacker and replies “no”, before the woman slams her to the floor next to the bed.
The woman then punches and knees her in the head, before yelling at her victim to “get up.”
Her friends had claimed she died from alcohol poisoning, reports Daily Mail.
One of Robinson’s friends called her parents to tell them she was unwell and claimed that she was intoxicated with alcohol. A doctor eventually showed up at the villa and attempted to revive Robinson before declaring her dead at 3pm local time.
An autopsy report that was obtained by Robinson’s parents indicates her neck was broken. Robinson was buried over the weekend.
The deceased was part of a group that traveled from Charlotte to Cabo on October 28 and rented out a villa to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
