Echoing the latest hip hop track, ‘Logo Benz’, by popular musicians, Olamide and Lil Kesh, police chief, Abayomi Shogunle, has shared a video of a suspected fraudster stealing a lady’s underwear from a bathroom’s window at an undisclosed location.
Abayomi, an Assistant Commissioner of Police and head of the Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU), posted the video on Twitter with the caption: “Awon ti Logo Benz. Whether you believe it or not, I advise you secure your …… for now.”
The cover art for the song is an altered version of the Mercedez Benz logo and a female pant.
The new song which was produced by Rexxie talks about money ritual and how he (Lil Kesh) wants to buy Benz.
Lil Kesh also sent out a warning to ladies to be careful with their “underwears”, saying: “panties are disappearing” in what appears to be a reaction to the ongoing trend among internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys) in the country.
In the song, Olamide could be heard saying: “I dey pray to Jesu ko owo wole, if money no enter I go do blood money oo. I dey pray to Allah ko owo wole oo, if money no enter I go do blood money oo,” Olamide said in the song.
Meanwhile, the song has generated a lot of controversies with Nigerians berating singers Olamide and Lil Kesh for purportedly promoting ritual killings and internet fraud in it.
Olamide has however justified the lyrics of the song, tweeting that the song was only raising awareness about societal ills.
Amidst growing calls for a boycott of his forthcoming concert in Lagos and censoring of his offensive lyrics, Olamide’s tweet reads, “Logo Benz is for the 3rd party to have a glimpse into the current state of youths in our society (Runs girls x runs boys).
“I’m not sure if there’s anything like 2 much awareness, but pardon me if there is. It’s all over the news, it’s always been in movies, don’t box musicians.”
The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has however said it would deny the song airplay.
