A yet-to-be-identified dispatched rider has reportedly been arrested in Sangotedo area of Lagos State with a baby inside his courier box.

A video of the incident was posted on Twitter by Gidi Traffic in the early hours of today.

The video shows the dispatch rider being beaten by the mob that made the discovery.

He was later seen sandwiched between an okada rider and a man carrying the baby, with an indication that they were taking him to a police station.

Meanwhile, police authorities in Lagos said the incident was not reported.

A statement signed by Lagos police spokesman, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, says: “The command wishes to inform the public that the incident said to have taken place in Sangotedo area, Lekki, was not reported at any police station to enable the police take appropriate actions.

“Notwithstanding that the incident was not reported, the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, fdc, mnim, psc, has directed that efforts should be intensified to locate the whereabouts of the alleged dispatch rider and the parents or guardians of the child to enable the police to investigate the incident.”
