The DCO, whose identity could not be immediately confirmed, was recently transferred to the town.
Eyewitnesses told NewsmakersNG the robbers numbering eight, entered the town through the sleepy neighbouring town of Ikoro-Ekiti and first attacked the police divisional headquarters before storming the bank.
The bank is located in Oke Ilogbo area of the town, close to the main market and directly opposite the palace of the town’s monarch.
The robbers were said to hid their guns in a coffin inside their operational vehicle and disguised as a funeral party.
The robbers who arrived after the bank had closed for the day reportedly forced their way into banking hall by blowing up the security door.
They were said to have acted on a tip off that the bank would receive a huge cash deposit today.
