President Donald Trump has justified the invasion of the US Capitol by his supporters.

A pro-Trump mob had stormed the building housing the US Congress yesterday afternoon after attending a rally addressed by the President earlier in the day.

The process of certifying the November 3 presidential election won by Democratic Party candidate, Joe Biden, was brought to an abrupt end after the mob forced its way into the Senate Chambers, where Vice President Mike Pence was presiding.

In his latest reaction to the development, Trump failed to condemn the action of his supporters, choosing rather to blame it on the failure of Congress to address his unfounded allegations of election fraud.

Trump tweeted, “These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long. Go home with love & in peace. Remember this day forever!”

Meanwhile, Twitter has disabled likes, retweets and replies on Trump’s latest tweet while retweets of another have been restricted.

Those same restrictions were also applied to a video Trump shared of himself late yesterday afternoon addressing the rioters.
