Senator Dino Melaye has claimed that policemen who laid siege to his Abuja residence since midday have forced their way into his compound.
Melaye in a series of tweets claimed the policemen, numbering about 20, beat up and handcuffed his security guard before putting him in one of their vans.
The senator also alleged that he saw the policemen from his security cameras trying to plant guns in his vehicles parked in the premises.
They have forcefully entered my compound.
“Cameras recording. They are trying to plant guns in the cars outside. We are watching.”
The invasion of the lawmaker’s home located at 11 Sangha Street, off Mississippi, Maitama, took place some minutes after noon.
The street where his house is located was cordoned off by security operatives, who have also prevented journalists from coming near the lawmaker’s residence.
Police are yet to give any reason for their action.
Melaye had raised the alarm a few days ago over an attempt by the Federal Government to assassinate him.
