Updated: Couple Snap Family Picture with Kidnapped Child as Their Own

The Rescued Child

Detectives in Abuja have arrested a female kidnapper and rescued a 4-year-old child abducted in Nasarawa State.
Identified as Patience Benedict, 25, the suspect told the police that she presented the child to her former boyfriend as a child she had for him after their breakup four years ago.
“We arrested her in the boyfriend’s house,” said a source at the Force Public Relations Department. “She kidnapped the boy and took him to her old boyfriend. She told the man that she got pregnant for him and gave birth four years ago; that she noticed she was pregnant after they had separated. The boyfriend was happy. He accepted them. They even took a family photograph together.”
Newsmakers learnt that operatives of the Inspector General of Police’s (IGP) Intelligence Response Team received a report last Tuesday that a 4-year old boy named Peter Okpe was kidnapped at Cassava market area of Masaka in Nasarawa State by an unknown woman.
Intelligence Officers were deployed and they were able to track the kidnapper with the support of the Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU) at about 6pm yesterday.
The suspect is a native of Kagoma in Kaduna State. She was arrested at Phase 4 area of Kubwa in Abuja.
Police say the abducted child was rescued unhurt.
