Four policemen reportedly lost their lives today when robbers attacked branches of two commercial banks in Ile Oluji town, in Ile Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The robbers also killed two unidentified civilians and injured a few others.
Earlier reports of the incident said two policemen were killed but a highly placed police officer told NewsmakersNG that four policemen died in the attack.
The police officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity said a combined team of policemen are on the trail of the fleeing robbers and gave the assurance that they would be tracked down.
Eyewitnesses said the other two victims were traders whose shops are very closer to the banks.
Femi Joseph, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the attack but said details were still sketchy.
