The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has provided further details on the fire incident that occurred at one of its offices in Abuja, confirming that preliminary findings point to a possible electrical fault as the cause of the outbreak.

The fire, which broke out in the early hours of Saturday, December 20, 2025, affected the fourth floor of the FIRS office located at No. 15 Sokode Crescent, Wuse Zone 5. Swift intervention by security personnel on duty, supported by the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service and other emergency responders, ensured that the fire was quickly contained.

In a follow-up statement, FIRS management reiterated that no lives were lost in the incident, although several offices on the affected floor suffered varying levels of damage.

The Service disclosed that a full investigation into the incident is ongoing to establish the precise cause, while comprehensive safety assessments are being carried out across the facility.

According to the statement, all internal fire prevention and safety protocols are currently under review and being strengthened to prevent a recurrence.

FIRS also reassured staff, taxpayers, and stakeholders that operations have not been significantly disrupted and that necessary steps are being taken to ensure business continuity.

The agency commended the prompt response of emergency services and reaffirmed its commitment to the safety of its personnel and the protection of public assets.
