UNIABUJA Recalls Student 12 Years After Expulsion for Leading Protest

Malik Yahya/

The authorities of the University of Abuja have recalled a former president of the institution’s Student Union Government, Ude Uwanta, who was expelled 12 years ago.

NewsmakersNG learnt that Uwanta, who was in final year, was expelled for leading fellow students to protest acute shortage of potable water in the school.

But in a letter dated June 14, 2019, Uwanta was asked to return to the institution to complete his outstanding 400 level second semester courses and subsequently write his final exams.

The decision was predicated on the report of the Disciplinary Committee set up by the Governing Council of the institution, which recommended the recall of Uwanta and some other students, the letter stated.
