As Professor Ishaq Oloyede reaches the milestone of 70 years today, President Bola Tinubu has paid glowing tribute to the renowned academic, lauding his distinguished contributions to Nigeria’s education and public administration.
The President, in a statement, hailed Prof. Oloyede—current Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)—as a “patriotic educator” whose career has transformed the academic landscape in Nigeria.
Tinubu noted Oloyede’s tenure as Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, where his innovative ideas left a lasting impact on the institution, elevating its standards and reputation.
“Prof. Oloyede imparted not just knowledge, but character to thousands of students,” President Tinubu stated, emphasizing the educator’s lifelong commitment to nurturing future generations.
But perhaps the most transformative period of Oloyede’s career has been his leadership at JAMB, where his reforms have introduced transparency, credibility, and fiscal discipline to the admission process.
“His financial integrity and accountability in public service have set new standards,” Tinubu added, acknowledging the unprecedented revenue contributions JAMB has made to the national treasury under Oloyede’s stewardship.
As Oloyede celebrates his 70th birthday, Tinubu joined a broad spectrum of well-wishers in recognizing the professor’s profound impact on education, Islamic scholarship, and public service.
The President concluded with prayers for Oloyede’s continued good health and wisdom, reaffirming his gratitude for the educator’s outstanding service to the nation.
