The British High Commission, Abuja, has refuted media reports it has suspended the processing of visa applications in Nigeria.
In a tweet today, the High Commission clarified its earlier statement, which it said was wrongly interpreted by a section of the media.
According to the tweet, Nigerians are still free to apply for all categories of visa, noting that only Priority and Super Priority visa services are temporarily suspended.
“UK Visa update: Our Visa Application Centres remain open and customers can apply for standard visas of any category. However, all ‘Priority’/‘Super Priority’ visa services in Nigeria are temporarily suspended,” the tweet read.
Priority visa allow applicants to get a decision within five working days after payment of extra £500 in addition to the standard application fee.
Similarly, super priority visa ensures applicants get a decision by the end of the next working day if the appointment is on a weekday or within two working days if appointment is at the weekend or on a bank holiday. This service costs extra £800.
