Policemen attached to the X-Squad Unit of the Zone 2 Police Command Headquarters, Lagos, have arrested two men for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl (name withheld).
The men, Stanley Akanno and Olakunle Hassan, were identified as teachers in a private school which their victim attends, in Amuwo Odofin area of the city.
Their arrest followed a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother after she suddenly realised her daughter had started betraying traits of a sexually active person.
According to the police, the mother once discovered the victim kissing her younger brother’s penis.
This made her question the victim, who then revealed that the suspects usually defile her sexually during after school lessons.
Police said the suspects would make the victim watch pornography on their laptop and thereafter force her to perform what she had seen in the movie on both of them.
They believe the suspects had been engaging in the act for several months before they were exposed.
The victim’s mother (name withheld), while narrating her experience to Newsmakers, stated: “One day I noticed that my daughter was kissing her brother’s penis. I was shocked and asked her where she learnt the behaviour from. She then told me that her lesson teacher usually play erotic films on his laptop and would force her to watch it and afterwards defile her. I immediately reported the case to the police and from preliminary investigation, it is clear she had been defiled.”
The main suspect in the crime, Akanno, however, denied the allegation.
Akanno, in a chat with Newsmakers, said: “I am her lesson teacher but I did not defile her. She is loved by all in the school, but she is not the only one I give after school lessons to. They should find out from her home, because that is where she was discovered to be behaving in such manner. My God will vindicate me.”
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the zone, Mr Kayode Aderanti, said the suspects were arrested on January 10 and would soon be charged to court.
