Detectives on the trail of kidnappers who abducted seven victims, including the Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaki Musibau, on April 6 and released them last night have held two suspected members of the gang at Ibafun along Ikorodu-Ijebu Ode Expressway on the outskirts of Lagos.
The freed victims were abducted at Ketu-Ereyun area of Ikorodu.
According to a statement by Lagos State police spokesman, DSP Bala Elkana, the suspects were arrested today following a sustained and well-coordinated operation by the Command’s Tactical teams led by the Officer in Charge of Anti Kidnapping Unit, SP Bulus R Musa.
The arrested suspects were identified as 29-year-old Blessing Bayo and Smart Alfred, 32.
The police statement says the suspects came from Arogbo, in Ondo State. They were arrested at about 5:30 am today “at Ibafun, along Ikorodu- Ijebu Ode Express Way, a boundary community with Ogun State and they all confessed to the commission of the crime”.
Two single barrel guns were allegedly recovered from the suspects.
The police investigation is ongoing as efforts are on to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.
