Two suspects have been held by the police in Ogun State, after a 14-year-old girl was lured into a house and gang raped.
The incident, according to the state police spokesman, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, happened at Obantoko area of Odeda Local Government in Abeokuta.
Oyeyemi identified the suspects as Abiodun Ishola, 19, and Kehinde Oloyede,18.
He said that they were arrested on April 28, following a complaint from the victim who cannot be named.
The victim, a hairdressing apprentice, was going to her boss’ shop on that day, unknown to her that there was environmental sanitation exercise going on.
She told the police that Ishola who was sitting outside his father’s house informed her of the restriction of movement and asked her to come and stay in their house pending when the exercise would end.
She stated in her report that while she was staying with Ishola, he coyly took her bag inside and when she wanted to leave, he told her to go and pick the bag from inside, not knowing that he has sent for his friend Oloyede, who later joined him and they both forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
“It was her screaming that attracted people who eventually rescued her,” Oyeyemi stated.
Upon the report, the DPO Obantoko Division SP Veronica Osakwe allegedly led detectives to the scene where Ishola was arrested, and his arrest led to that of Oloyede.
Oyeyemi told NewsmakersNG that on interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime.
He said that the victim had been taken to general hospital for medical examination. Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police (CP) Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered that the two suspects be transferred to the Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
