Two Fleeing Suspects Arrested with Cut-to-Size Gun During Lagos Patrol

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a locally made cut-to-size Danne gun with three live cartridges during a crime prevention patrol in the Odogunyan area of Lagos.

The suspects were apprehended in a joint operation involving police officers and members of the local vigilante group as part of the Command’s ongoing crackdown on crime across the state.

Police said the suspects, identified as Arowolo Damilola, 32, and Adewale Adeyinka, 29, aroused suspicion while carrying a handbag during the patrol. On sighting the security team, they reportedly attempted to flee but were swiftly pursued and arrested.

A search of the handbag allegedly uncovered a locally made cut-to-size Danne gun and three live cartridges believed to have been in the suspects’ possession.

The two suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators. They are expected to be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Commending the officers and members of the local vigilante group for their vigilance and effective collaboration, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, said the successful operation underscored the importance of community partnership in combating crime.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Lagos State, warning criminals to abandon unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.

The Police also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or criminal activities through the Command’s emergency response lines, assuring the public of a sustained offensive against armed robbery and other violent crimes.
