Trust Global Services Ltd, formerly known as Ekenna Natures Ltd, has unveiled two NAFDAC-approved quick organ recovery drugs, Kidver and Donix-T, designed to prevent and manage chronic diseases such as cancer, kidney, liver, and heart diseases, as well as diabetes.

The products were launched at a well-attended event held at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, which drew professionals from medicine, pharmacy, and law, among other fields.

Observers described the development as a landmark achievement in Nigeria’s quest to integrate scientific natural medicine into mainstream healthcare and reduce medical tourism.

Declaring the event open, the Chairman and CEO of Juhel Nigeria Ltd, Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye, hailed the innovation as historic.

He said, “In my 45 years as a pharmacist, this is the first time I am witnessing the launch of naturally formulated drugs in Nigeria.”

Dr. Okoye commended Pharm. Dr. Ekenna, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Trust Global Services, for his ingenuity and resilience, calling on government at all levels to support such home-grown innovations.

“This initiative proves that commitment, resilience, and determination can help Nigeria overcome the disease burden we once considered a death sentence,” he said.

In his address, former Enugu State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Fintan Ekochin, praised Dr. Ekenna’s skill in developing medicines from natural foods and plants.

He observed that Nigeria’s heavy reliance on imported drugs could be reversed through initiatives like this, noting that the company’s mantra, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine thy food”, aptly captured its philosophy.

Dr. Ekochin explained that phytomedicine, the use of plant-based compounds in therapy, was already part of daily nutrition.

“If you say you don’t take herbal medicine, then stop eating food, because almost everything we eat – tomatoes, onions, garlic, oranges, palm oil, contains medicinal properties,” he said.

He lamented that the local herbal market had long been dominated by non-pharmaceutical actors, leading to unverified claims and lack of professional oversight.

However, he commended Trust Global Services for introducing scientific rigour and pharmacological expertise to herbal production.

Dr. Ekochin likened the development of Kidver and Donix-T to China’s historic transformation of Artemisinin, first used as herbal tea, into a global anti-malaria drug.

“If the Chinese had denied the goodness of Artemisinin, where would the world be today in the treatment of malaria?” he said.

Dr. Ekenna, a pharmacist trained at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, explained that Kidver and Donix-T were designed to mop up reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS and RNS), harmful compounds responsible for inflammation and tissue damage.

According to him, the drugs help correct abnormal liver and kidney functions, lipid profiles, and tumour marker levels (CA153, CA125, CA199, PSA, CEA, AFP), thereby halting disease progression.

“These formulations halt the degeneration that leads to full-blown cancer, kidney failure, diabetes, stroke, and other chronic diseases,” he said.

He called on federal and state governments to partner with his organisation to scale up production and distribution: “It is God’s work and my personal effort. But the government should come and partner with us so that together, we can help Nigeria and the world.”

Pharm. Dr. Ekenna, who recently earned a doctorate in Phytopharmacology from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has received numerous national and international awards for innovation in alternative medicine.
The event featured testimonials from individuals who claimed recovery from various stages of cancer, kidney, liver, and heart diseases, as well as diabetes, after using the products.

Dignitaries in attendance included Prof. George O. Ugwu, Enugu State Commissioner for Health; HRH Eze Pharm. Ndichegwo Ike; Prof. Ademora G.N., Consultant Paediatrician, UNTH Enugu; Prof. P.A. Akah, former Vice-Chancellor, Imo State University; Dr. Ikechukwu Odo, former National President, Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners; Barr. Odo Venatus, Chairman, NBA Enugu Branch; and Deacon Ogbodo, Enugu State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
