U.S. President, Donald Trump, has attributed a noticeable bruise on his left hand to his high intake of aspirin.
The mark appeared after he reportedly bumped a table at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on his return to the United States.
“They say take aspirin if you like your heart, but don’t take aspirin if you don’t want to have a little bruising. I take the big aspirin,” Trump said.
He added that although his doctor told him he did not need the medication because he is “very healthy,” he preferred to take extra precautions.
White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, said the bruise resulted from Trump hitting his hand on the corner of a signing table during his Board of Peace announcement.
Medical experts say it is plausible that aspirin contributed to the bruising.
Trump has previously stated he takes a larger daily dose than doctors recommend to maintain “nice, thin blood pouring through my heart.”
Leavitt had earlier suggested last summer that hand bruises were caused by frequent handshakes.
Trump, 79, is the second-oldest person to hold the presidency, following Joe Biden, who left office at age 82 after declining to seek re-election in 2024 amid health concerns.
