A man and his two daughters were crushed to death in Oru-Ijebu, Ogun State on Friday by a truck.

Another female student whom the man gave a ride was also injured in the accident.

The man was said to be conveying his children, who were students of Itamerin High School, to school on his bike when the tragic incident occurred.

NewsmakersNG was told the accident occurred around 7.30am on the bridge linking Oru and Ago-Iwoye.

Eyewitnesses said the driver of the truck drove dangerously and in the process crushed the cyclist and the children.

The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident to journalists.

Akinbiyi said: “A male adult and two school children were crushed to death by a truck while another female pupil was injured this morning along the Oru-Ago Iwoye Road.

“The cyclist was taking the children to school when the truck ran into them.

“The injured female child was taken to Blessed Hospital, Oru, Ijebu Igbo, while the corpses of the victims were taken to the mortuary of the State Hospital, Ijebu Igbo.”

NewsmakersNG learned that a mob set the ill-fated truck and another truck that was not involved in the accident ablaze.

Security agents were later called in to restore the peace in the area.
