Truck Crushes Bride-to-be Assisting Blind Man to Cross Lagos Road

Segun Atanda/

A bride-to-be was killed by a speeding truck in Lagos, on Thursday, while playing the Good Samaritan.

Eyewitnesses told Newsmakers that the accident occurred around 10.39am at Akesan, along the LASU-Igando expressway.

They said that the victim was hit by the truck as she was assisting an elderly blind man to cross the expressway.

The impact of the collision was said to have smashed her against the concrete median, smashing her skull completely.

The elderly man she was assisting however, escaped unhurt.

Newsmakers learnt that the truck suffered a sudden break failure thereby preventing the driver from stopping for the victim.

It was learnt that the lady, who died instantly, had her engagement ceremony recently and was preparing for her wedding.

Efforts to get the identities of those involved proved abortive, while the truck had been towed away before our correspondent got to the scene.

Policemen at Igando said they could not make the victim’s identity public until her family had been formally notified of the incident.

They said the corpse had been deposited at the morgue.
