Joint security forces under Operation UDO KA have dismantled what was described as the “supreme headquarters” of the Eastern Security Network (ESN)/IPOB in the rugged Mother Valley of Orsu, Imo State, after a coordinated dawn assault.

Security sources said troops launched the final offensive at about 7 a.m. on February 26, advancing on foot for nearly three hours through treacherous terrain before storming the enclave.

The forces reportedly came under heavy fire, with suspected ESN fighters deploying locally made Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and engaging in intense gunfire in a desperate attempt to repel the assault.

However, the troops pushed through the defensive lines, neutralising one suspect while others reportedly fled with gunshot wounds.

Recovered items included pump-action guns, a locally fabricated firearm, a tear gas gun, gas cylinders, and multiple flags. Troops also destroyed solar panels and a Mikano generator believed to have powered the camp.

Two additional suspects were apprehended, one allegedly attempting to plant an IED and another accused of spying on troop movements. Both are undergoing investigation.

Security operatives also seized two vehicles from the valley as mop-up operations continued.
