A news report by a reporter with the federal government-owned Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) confirming the shooting of #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll plaza in Lagos on October 20 is trending on social media.
A group of soldiers had reportedly fired live bullets at the protesters who had defied the curfew imposed on the state by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to continue their protest at the toll plaza.
An unconfirmed number of protesters reportedly died during the attack while scores of others were injured.
Nigerian military authorities have since denied deploying soldiers in the area, labelling photos from the scene as possibly doctored.
