Train Crushes 5 to Death in Lagos

Ololade Adeyanju/

Four passengers in a commercial tricycle and its rider were crushed to death by a speeding train this morning in Lagos.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the incident happened around 7am at the Iju Ishaga area of the metropolis.

Eyewitnesses said the tricycle rider was attempting to cross the railway when it got trapped and crushed.

The eyewitnesses said while the train approached, motorists and pedestrians stopped but the tricycle rider attempted to quickly dash across before the train would reach the crossing point.

In January, a train accident had occurred at Ikeja, in Lagos as one of the coaches fell-off the rail track while in motion, causing another coach to derail, trapping the passengers in them.
