The heart of Nigeria’s theatre-arts scene is about to beat louder as Ibadan braces for an influx of legendary talents.

This Friday, the Association of Nigeria Theatre-Arts Practitioners (ANTP) will host its much-anticipated first annual National Conference at the Cultural Centre, Mokola. From filmmaking maestro Tunde Kelani to Yoruba cultural custodian Ifayemi Elebuibon, this star-studded event promises to be a melting pot of creativity, leadership, and industry-shaping ideas.

An impressive lineup of distinguished speakers and renowned professionals, are expected to share their wealth of knowledge through lectures, goodwill messages, and interactive sessions.

Kicking off the conference, Dr. Rasak Oyadiran, CILG, will deliver the presidential welcome address, setting the tone for what is expected to be a thought-provoking gathering of minds. Attendees can look forward to hearing from:

Dr. Bashir Akande Lazeez of the University of Ibadan, who will lecture on “How to Be a Successful Theatre-Arts Practitioner in the 21st Century,” providing practical strategies for thriving in today’s fast-evolving industry. 
Elder Tunde Kelani, the iconic filmmaker, who will share rare insights into the art of filmmaking in a live interview that is sure to captivate aspiring directors and cinephiles alike. 
Asiwaju Oyewole Olowomojuore (Baba Gebu), a respected Board of Trustees member, who will give the keynote address, shedding light on the future of Nigerian theatre-arts in an ever-changing global landscape. 
– Amb. Prof. Busari Shamsudeen Akande, Secretary to the Council, CIML, USA, will speak on “Embracing Unconventional Leadership,” a topic poised to inspire leaders across the creative industry. 
Ambassador Fatoyinbo Olaniyi, a digital content expert, who will explore “How to Use Android Phones to Create Content and Earn Money Online,” empowering the next generation of digital storytellers. 
High Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon, the Araba of Osogboland, will deliver a special lecture on “Oyè Ilè Yoruba ati Eré Àgbéléwò,” delving deep into the significance of Yoruba culture and folklore in contemporary theatre.

The event will also feature special blessings from Chief Lere Paimo, MFR, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, marking the conference’s significance as a milestone for the association.

The day’s proceedings will begin with opening prayers by Imam Alhaji Abbas Giwa and conclude with closing prayers by Pastor Bisi Sunday, representing the unity and diversity within the ANTP community.
