The Head of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) and School Protection Squad (SPS) of the Nigeria Police Force, CP (Dr) Abayomi Sogunle, has met with officials of the United States Embassy to discuss strategies for combating insecurity across Nigeria.

The meeting, held with Candace Spradley, Director of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, was aimed at fostering collaboration between the Nigeria Police and the U.S. government in dismantling criminal networks and enhancing safety in Nigerian communities.

The discussions took place at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, emphasising the strategic importance of the engagement in aligning Nigeria’s security priorities with international support.

CP Sogunle, who is widely known as the pioneer of the Police Complaint Response Unit, revealed details of the engagement in a post on his X account.

“Today, I had an introductory meeting with Candace Spradley. We discussed @PoliceNG SIS, an initiative of IGP Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, aimed at dismantling criminal networks in communities across Nigeria,” he stated.

The SIS, established by Inspector-General of Police, plays a critical role in countering organised crime and securing vulnerable communities.

Its focus on dismantling criminal syndicates complements the mission of the School Protection Squad, which is dedicated to ensuring the safety of schools across the country.

This meeting underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to leveraging international partnerships to address the country’s security challenges effectively.
