Nephew of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who slumped and died on Thursday, was widely admired for his jokes.
Going by NewsmakersNG’s findings, the late Deji Tinubu was a-laugh-a-minute man, and his Twitter account has been more fun than a barrel of monkeys, as the saying goes.
A die-hard football fan of Nottingham Forest, the late Tinubu shared one last joke on his Twitter handle, @dejitinubu, hours before he slumped and died in Epe:
He tweeted: “If not for birds and booze I would’ve played for England !!!!!”
NewsmakersNG learnt that he was making arrangements to be at the World Cup in Russia starting on June 14.
He once gave sports lovers the experience of a lifetime in Lagos, when the state hosted the 2nd African Cup of Nations Beach Soccer Tournament in December 2016.
For members of the Executive Council in Lagos, Thursday was a day of joy that ended in sorrow.
There was inspection of some of the state government’s infrastructural development projects, then a novelty match during which Deji Tinubu slumped and was given First Aid treatment before he was rushed to the General Hospital in Epe, where he was confirmed dead.
His death makes it the second time in two months that the Tinubu family would witness sudden and unnatural death.
Asiwaju Tinubu’s first son, Jide, suddenly became unconscious and later died in his house on November 1, last year, after returning from an outing at Lekki Central Hotel, in Lagos.
