President Bola Tinubu today, in Beijing, China, emphasized the critical role of global collaboration in driving shared progress and prosperity.

Speaking at the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) at the Great Hall of the People, Tinubu lauded the China-Africa partnership as a model for sustainable development, rooted in a bold, collective vision. He underscored the importance of peaceful dialogue, transparent business practices, and diplomatic conflict resolution in deepening this relationship.

“The success of FOCAC and our broader partnership demonstrates that global progress is not a zero-sum game. By working together, we create opportunities for sustainable development and shared prosperity,” President Tinubu said, as he reiterated the need for continued cooperation based on trust and mutual respect, ensuring the partnership benefits future generations.

Highlighting key moments in the China-Africa partnership, Tinubu praised China’s ongoing commitment to Africa through financial support, cultural exchanges, and the establishment of FOCAC in 2000. He also pointed out the growing economic ties, with trade between the two regions estimated at $280 billion.

In his remarks, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced $50 billion in financial support for Africa, alongside $280 million in aid. He outlined a 10-point plan to advance modernization across the continent over the next three years, covering areas such as trade, health, agriculture, cultural exchanges, and green economic development.

Xi also proposed elevating the China-Africa relationship to an “all-weather community with a shared future for the new era,” calling for deeper strategic cooperation.
